| Rally against price hike, unemployment | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 2 A protest rally against the coalition government was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir state samaj sudhar committee on Wednesday to highlight the burning issue of political corruption, unemployment and the attitude of the NHPC Uri for failing to address the demands o t he people of t he area whoe land have been occupied by the NHPC for construction of the Uri Hydel Power project. The rally was lead by its president Mohd Yousaf Wani and was attended by large number of activisits who gathered here outside the Press club. Addressing the gatheringMohd Yousaf Wani stressed upon the need to uproot the corrupotion and control price hike of essential commodities. Referring to problems faced by the residents of Uri, Wani said that NHPC has failed to mitigate the sufferings of people had handed over their land to the NHPC for the construction of power project.Every member was given an assurance by the NHPC authorities that one member of each family shall be provided with employment.Wani alleged that till date NHPC has failed to fulfill iots commitment.He also appealed to the chief minister to personnaly intervene in the matter and extend relief to needy.Referring to iomplementation of the Roshni Act in the state Wani said that only rich and land mafia are benefited from the scheme as deserving poor and needy are deprived and were not benefited.Several other leaders of the JK samaj sudhar committee participated in the raly and addressed t he activists. |
