| Abducted civilians body exhumed after five years | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 2 Jammu and Kashmir police today exhumed body of a civilian - who was abducted and killed by a group of militants, who later surrender before the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, last year – in Gool area of Ramban district. Sources in the police department revealed that during the interrogation of militants, who had surrendered before the army, it was ascertained that they had killed a civilian and buried him in a nearby forest area. "A woman, Zarifa Begum, filed a written complaint, this morning that his son, Sharief Ahmed, was abducted by the militants group headed by Manzoor alias Furqan Ali, who had surrendered before the army alongwith eleven others", Station House Officer (SHO) Gool Waseem Raja said. "My son was killed by the militants in October 2003 and I could not file the compliant till now as they had threatened to kill my entire family", the woman in her compliant added. It is pertinent to mention here that Manzoor Ahmad alias Furqan Ali was one of the twelve militants who surrendered with arms and ammunition before Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the newly created Ramban district of Jammu region, on December 23 last year. Among the dozen militants that laid down their arms before the chief minister, 10 were operating in the general area of Gool in Ramban district while two operated in the Kellar area of Pulwama district in Kashmir. When the accused militant was subjected to interrogation, he admitted that he alongwith other militants Amanullah, Altaf, Javaid and Nazir, who were active in Gool area, had abducted the son of he complainant and killed him. All other accused, except Manzoor, have been killed in various encounters. On the disclosure of the accused militants, sources said, police exhumed body of the civilian from Ghagra Chawala of Gool and also busted a hideout in Lori Gool. The SHO said that the body was exhumed on the identification of the accused. "We have recovered cloths, wrist watch and skeleton of the deceased from the grave", he said. The further investigation of the case was in process to ascertain the detail, he added. |
