Pressing suite against BJP, Mangat appears in Court

In a defamation case against the BJP leaders, the Congress veteran and Health Minister Mangat Ram Sharma today got his statement recorded before the judge pursing the case.
Mangat Ram Sharma had filed a defamation complaint against the BJP leaders Shamsher Singh Manhas and Bali Bhagat for wild allegations of amassing illicit wealth. The Second Additional Districts and Sessions Judge Jammu AK Koul today recorded statement of Mangat Ram who had personally appeared in the Court.
At a press conference on October 3 last year, Shamsher Singh Manhas and Bali Bhagat had leveled allegations against Mangat Ram Sharma of amassing huge wealth.
In his complaint, the Health Minister says that this was intentionally done by the BJP leaders knowing that such imputations were bound to harm his reputation.
The alleged accused also started character assassination campaign of complainant by making willful and reckless denigrating and defamatory imputation publicity and prayed for initiated process against the alleged accused person and on proof of the charge, they be convicted and sentence under law.
In the complaint filed through Mr. BS Salathia AAG and Adv RK Kotwal who were appointed by Govt as Special Public Prosecutors vide notification SRO 20 dated January 16, 2008 and SRO 30 January 24, 2008 with the direction to file the complaint against Shameshar Singh Manhas and Bali Bhagat General Secretaries BJP for written letter containing defamatory imputations which has been published in the number of newspapers against Minister for Health & Medical Education, Labour & Employment & Ladakh Affairs Dept.
