| BJP repeats demand of booking Mehbooba for sedition | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 4 Jammu and Kashmir BJP has reiterated its demand that PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, Member of Parliament, be booked under the charge of sedition so that none in future dares to indulge in anti-India activities in and outside India. The BJP has no doubt that the PDP president has committed a serious crime by demanding in Pakistan “dual power sharing arrangement”, which should be subsequently “combined with India and Pakistan polity” and by using such provocative terms such as “supra state”. No nation with any self-respect and no state which considers its sovereignty as paramount can ever let the likes of Mehbooba Mufti go scot-free. The BJP is convinced that the failure of the Congress-led UPA government and the Congress-led government in Jammu and Kashmir to act against Mehbooba Mufti and others of her ilk would only help the forces of destruction and further vitiate the already rather vitiated socio-religious and political scene. It would further establish that the Congress-led governments at the centre and in the state approve of what the PDP president preached in Pakistan and that they share the PDP’s view that both India and Pakistan should share sovereignty in Jammu and Kashmir. The only issue which still remains to be resolved between India and Pakistan is the political future of PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan, which are undoubtedly Indian and the Indian Parliament on February 22, 1994 adopted a unanimous resolution to this effect. The BJP urges the President of India and the Lok Sabha speaker to immediately initiate criminal proceedings against the PDP president. The BJP also takes this opportunity to make it loud and clear that it would not allow the Union Government to implement the controversial recommendations as contained in the Working Groups’ reports because the BJP is of the firm view that their implementation would undo all the settled things and lead to a situation not conducive for the well-being of the nation and the Indian State. The implementation of these recommendations would only strengthen the hands of subversives, communalists and separatists. Likewise, the BJP would oppose tooth and nail any step that is designed to divide Jammu province on communal lines and establish Greater Kashmir consisting of Kashmir and Muslim-majority areas of Jammu and Ladakh. |
