Badminton: Semis line-up drawn
Inter-Department Sports Meet of JU

Semi-finals line-up has been drawn in Badminton tournament organized as part of the Inter-Department Sports Meet of University of Jammu by the Department of Physical Education on the campus, here today.
The teams making it into the last four stages today are Law School and Business School, while Department of Law has already qualified for the semifinals.
In the quarterfinals played today, Law School defeated Department of Physical Education 2-0. In the first singles, Abhik Gupta beat Ashwani Kotwal 21-16, 21-15 while Amar beat Harish in straight sets 21-15, 21-16 in the second singles.
The Business School also won their quarterfinal encounter today trouncing the Department of Chemistry 2-0. While Bhanu beat Mabubha Shah 21-7, 21-14, Atul outplayed Satyan in easy straight sets 21-3, 21-7.
TABLE TENNIS: Two departments of Commerce and Botany today made it into the last four stages winning the respective ties at Gymnasium Hall of the University of Jammu. In the quarterfinals played today, Botany outplayed Urdu Department 2-0. Sandeep Kotwal beat Shameem 11-8, 6-11, 11-8 while Mudassir beat Nadeem 11-7, 11-6. In the second quarterfinal, Commerce Department beat Department of Physical Education 2-0. Sushil beat Jagmohan 11-9, 3-11, 11-8 while Munish outplayed Sanjeev Jamwal 11-9, 11-7. In another first round match, Law School beat Department of Law 2-0. Bhanu beat Ajay 11-3, 14-12 and Karan Khosa trounced Pawan Kumar 9-11, 11-8, 11-8.
CARROM: Urdu Department beat Law Department 2-0. Nadeem beat Swarn while Gulzar downed Amit. In another match, MCA Department trounced Law School 2-1. Singles: Vikas beat Saquib while Farooq Ahmed lost to Muzamil. Doubles: Vikas and Manish beat the pair of Saqui and Muzamil.
Today’s matches were officiated by Ramesh Magotra, Ravish Vaid, Rajan Tah, Sunaina and Meenakshi.
