| Pawan’s 71 helps Physical Education win by 101 runs | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 4 A splendid knock of 71 runs by Pawan Sharma today guided Department of Physical Education to a big win of 101 runs over Department of Chemistry in the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket Tournament of University of Jammu, here. Pawan’s 71 runs came off just 28 deliveries studded with 13 boundaries and a huge six. He was later adjudged man of the match. Batting first after winning the toss, Physical Education Department made 195 runs losing all their wickets in 17.3 overs of the 20 overs match, which, in reply, Chemistry Department could not chase and bowled out for 94 runs in the 17th over. Besides Pawan, Atul Sharma also played fine innings of 28 (off 13 balls, 6x4) while Opinder Pal and Vikram (not out) contributed 14 and 16 runs respectively. Extras added second highest 32 runs. From Chemistry Department, Rajbir and Arun shared two wickets each. Mohit, Tabraiz, Daljeet and Rameez took one wicket each. Batting second, Chemistry Department could not even touch the 100 runs mark and lost all their wickets for 94 runs in 16.4 overs. Kuldeep remained the top scorer with 22 runs including two sixes and an equal number of boundaries. Arun and Mohit added 16 and 11 runs respectively. Opinder Pal Singh was most successful bowler with three for 17 in four overs while Atul bagged two for six in only over he bowled. Vikram, Shashi and Gourav took one wicket each. Raj Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Sat Pal officiated today’s match. |
