| Governror greets people on Navratras, Navreh | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 5 Governor, Lt. Gen. (Retd) S K Sinha has greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Navratra and Navreh. In a message, the Governor said that Navratras have special significance in Jammu and Kashmir as thousands of devotees from all over the country throng during these auspicious days to pay obeisance at the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi on Trikuta Hills would. He hoped that the devotees would pray for peace and prosperity of the State and the country. General Sinha also felicitated Kashmiri Pandits who would be celebrating the day as Navreh, the beginning of the new-year and onset of spring after a chilly winter. He recalled the days when they along with their Muslim brethren used to visit Badamwari (almond gardens) and share each other's joys in true spirit of Kashmiriyat, the corner-stone of Kashmir's unique blend of co-existence and religious harmony. The Governor prayed for an early return of complete normalcy and tranquility in the State, and hoped that these festivals would be celebrated in true spirit of our composite culture. He prayed for peace in the State. |
