| Jammu Festival arrangements finaliized | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 5 For the smooth and successful conduct of Jammu festival scheduled to commence from April 6, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sudhanshu Pandey finalized the arrangements being made at varied sectors at a high level officers meeting convened here this morning. Interacting with the participants, the Divisional Commissioner took stock of the overall preparation and programmes to ensure that the prestigious event blooms with the aroma of traditions and cultural ethos. It was finalized that on April 6, the festival would take off with philosopher walk, mostly comprising of senior citizens and students, from Mahamaya greenery spot at 7 a. m in the morning. Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control S. Manjit Singh will flag off the philosopher walk from Mahamaya temple premises and pass through the paths developed by the Forest Department for the morning walkers to highlight the area for tourist attraction. During the course of walk at prominent places facts about the interesting part of the history of visible land mark of the city would also be explained by the knowledgeable personalities. At the culmination point quiz contest on the different view sites visible like Mubarak Mandi, Old city, temples and other complexes alongwith environment and heritage of Jammu and Kashmir state has been organized winners will get suitable prizes besides refreshment for the walkers. In the evening, Minister for Higher Education Mr Gulchain Singh Charak would inaugurate the illumination of entire Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex followed by light music, cultural bonanza organized by artists of State Information Department. To make the event memorable and more alluring, the Divisional Commissioner asked the organizers to evolve modus operandi by which Jammu Festival could be made extraordinary enthralling and magnetic. He sought coordinated efforts to organize different contests, talent search programmes wherein winners would be suitably awarded besides surprise gifts for unexpected and unannounced shows. Children Antakashari for particular age group after announcing timing, venue to make the evening more attractive for youngsters and budding artists. Arrangements with regard to cultural programme to be organized by Sound and Drama Division was also finalized as cultural troupe from other states are arriving on April 10 and start performing from April 11 and onwards for a week’s period. Initially for two day the cultural troupe would perform at Akhnoor and Udhampur districts. The performances have also been organized at Mini Stadium Parade Ground Jammu. Divisional Commissioner emphasized the need for publicity of all the Nukad shows especially in the localities where being conducted by the parties themselves through Drum beats. At Zorawar Singh Auditorium it has been finalized that now prominent singer Suresh Wadekar will perform the mega culture show on April 12 whileas one month long National Heritage Tracking expedition from Mogri to Mantali in which every day 30 to 35 trackers would be dispatched from Udhampur Shivalik College by Youth Hostel Association of India J&K State branch from April 12 onwards this has been disclosed by the Chairman YHAI Mr S P Verma. Baisakhi run will be organized from Mubarak Mandi to Rajinder park canal road in which apart from general masses school children would also participate. T-shirts yellow and Caps with red logo will be provided to each participants by Tourism Department to give wide publicity to the event. Langer will be served by the Police Department at Chander Bhaga Community Hall canal road. Due to on set of Navratra Festival, eatables of fasting items would be available at all the places. Divisional Commissioner informed that all Prominent Buildings, Rotaries Crossings, Bazaars, Hotels, Heritage Complexes, Temples would simultaneously start glowing from 6th of April onward to give the festive look to the entire city of Temples. Among others Deputy Commissioner Jammu Mr Hirdesh Kumar Singh, Director Tourism Mr Ajay Khajuria, Director Archives Mr K A Qadri, Joint Director Information Mr S K Sharma, Chief Engineer PDD Mr D S Pawar, Health Officer JMC, SSP Security, Mr A S Bali, SP City Mr Sanjay Kotwal and other senior officers various departments were present in the meeting. |
