| Khajuria express anguish over withdrawal of excise exemption | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 5 The BJP state president Ahsok Khajuria expressed his anguish on the continuing onslaught on Jammu province one way or the other by the congress led UPA government and said as if the withdrawal of excise exemption was not sufficient punishment to Jammu province within one day of the notification of the excise exemption withdrawal, the commissioner excise, J&K has issued hundreds of notices to Jammu based units, questioning their excise exemption status and withdrawal the same in toto. As per press release he said central government had reduced entitlement by 61% but the central excise commissioner J&K, has no his own, withdrawn balance 39% also. If any proof of anti-Jammu bias of the central government was needed, it has been provided by this misconceived said order of the J&K central excise commissioner, he asserted. Khajuria further said withdrawan of 39% ostensibly is that the industries located in areas, for which the exemption is not available. Almost all the industries hit by this withdrawal, are located in the industries estates like SIDCO, SICOP, Bari Brahmana, Gangyal, Dagiana, Kathua, Samab, Udhampur etc deserve excise ememption. How on earth Central excise department, which had granted exemptions from the year 2002 onwards, to the industrial unit set up in these industrial estates, can suddenly say in 2008 that the industrial units are not located in industrial areas? This is not just stupidity. It strengthens the suspicion that the centre excise department is out to destroy industries. He said it is high time that the state government which is headed by chief minister hailing from Jammu province, realizes the gravity of the crisis. |
