| CM makes weekend good Rashtrapati Bhawan | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 5 Awaiting a meeting with the top central leaders including the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad utilized his weekend at the Union Capital well at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The Chief Minister is in New Delhi since Friday to discuss the organizational, political and developmental scenario with the central leaders including the Congress president and the Prime Minister. Sources said that he is likely to meet the top central leaders tomorrow. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister did not let his Saturday go waste in the Union Capital. He had a meeting with the President of India, Pratibha Patil which lasted for quarter to an hour. The President, according to an official spokesman, is expected to visit Jammu and Kashmir sometime in summer. The dates for the visit would be finalized later, even as she has accepted the invitation of a visit extended by the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad here today. The Chief Minister met the President at the Rashtrapati Bhawan and discussed with her current development and political scenario obtaining in Jammu & Kashmir. Azad extended invitation to the President to visit the State during the coming summer. The President accepted the invitation. The dates for the visit, however, would be finalized subsequently. During the meeting, lasting about 45 minutes, the Chief Minister briefed the President about the development works initiated by the State government in various sectors and expansion of public utility services across J&K, especially in remote and far-flung areas. The growth in education sector with special reference to the expanding reach of university and college education in the State was also highlighted. The Chief Minister unfolded the changing face of rural Jammu & Kashmir following massive infrastructure development programmes initiated under his stewardship. The President evinced keen interest in the ongoing development schemes in the State. |
