| Karra inaugurates Fair Price Timber Depot at Shalteng | | | SRINAGAR, AUGUST 28 – To make timber available on concessional rates Government has decided to entrust the supply of timber to the bonafide consumers in “C” Zone (rural areas) Municipal Committees, Councils and the cities of Srinagar and Jammu through J&K State Forest Corporation to avoid smuggling and keep timber available to the people on reasonable rates.
This was stated by the Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Forest, Mr. Tariq Hameed Kara while inaugurating Fair Price Timber supply Scheme at Shalteng here Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government has fixed a concessional rate structure for different areas. He said that this timber supply scheme has been entrusted to the J&K State Forest Corporation for the first time.
The Minister said that 20 sale Fair Price Timber Depot would be established in Srinagar city. He said 20 graduate youth could be engaged for these depots besides 4 to 5 laborers would also get job.
The Minister also distributed sanction orders for supply of timber among 800 beneficiaries. He said that the government has launched several welfare schemes aimed at providing relief to the people living below the poverty line. Mr. Karra asked the people to come forward and take benefits of these schemes.
The Minister said that it is for the first time that the whole state including Urban areas has been brought under the scheme to streamline price differences and eliminate the menace of smuggling. |
