| Dowry killing or…? | | Newly married woman found murdered, husband missing | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 6 Police recovered body of a twenty-six year old woman, who was married few months back, from a rented accommodation in Rajpora Mangotrain area of Jammu, Sunday morning. Reports revealed that inhabitants of Rajpora Mangotrain under the jurisdiction of police station Bakshi Nagar informed the police about foul smell coming from a residential house in the locality. A police team rushed to the spot and broke open the door of the room. "We were shocked to see body of a young woman lying on the bed", one of the eyewitness said. He said that the body was decomposing and foul smell was emanating out of it. The residents later identified the deceased as Satya Devi alias Maneesha of Domana, Jammu, who was living with her husband Mohinder Kumar in the room. Sources disclosed that the young couple had married few months back, after they fell in love, and since then they were living in the rented accommodation. Police shifted the body to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu for postmortem and sealed the room. Sources in the police said that it seems to be a murder as there were strangulation marks on the neck of the deceased and the room was locked from outside. They said that husband of the deceased was being suspected to be behind murder. "We have launched a man hunt to trace the accused, who has not been seen in the locality from last about a week", a senior police officer said.. He added that the preliminary investigation has revealed that the relationship between the couple was strained and they were often seen fighting with each other. According to brother and sister of the deceased, the couple had tied nuptial nod against the wishes of her parents. They alleged that Mohinder used to torture Maneesha for dowry. |
