| Kashmir Province beats Jammu boys by 33 runs to win trophy | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 6 Kashmir Province XI clinched a 33 runs victory beating their counterparts from Jammu Province in a limited over match organized in memory of Ramjoo Drabu at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today. Scheduled to start yesterday, the two-day game was reduced to 30 overs by the organizing committee, comprised of members from four different Kashmir based clubs affiliated to the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) because of the inclement weather. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Kashmir Province XI set a target of 118 runs losing all their wickets in 25.3 overs, which, in reply, Jammu Province XI could not chase and bowled out for 85 runs in 24.5 overs. Wazim and Feroz were top scorers with 21 runs each while Fayaz and Younus contributed 15 and 14 runs respectively. From Jammu Province XI, Bilal clinched three wickets while Ravi and Akshay shared two wickets each. Rohit and Waqar took one each. Later, chasing a target of near four-run per over, Jammu boys could not control their nerves and lost wickets on regular intervals making an end to their innings on 85 in 24.5 overs. Abhinav Kaw played fine innings of 28 runs including five boundaries while Vimarsh contributed 25 (4x4) runs to the score. No other batsman could touch the double figure mark. Sameer was most successful bowler from Kashmir Province XI with three for six runs in four overs. Rashid and Sanju shared four wickets between them. For his superb batting, Abhinav Kaw was adjudged best batsman while Samer Ali got the best bowler trophy. The best fielder award went to Anish Koul. Former general secretary of JKCA, M L Nehru was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Working committee member of JKCA, C L Charangoo was guest of honour. Prominent among others present were H K Rawal, Ashwinder Koul, K B Kaw and Rajesh Dhar. It may be recalled that four Kashmir based affiliated migrant clubs of JKCA, Whites Cricket Club, Srinagar Cricket Club, Kashmir Cricket Club and Rainawari Cricket Club organized the inter-province cricket tie involving their registered players. |
