| Ashwani demands compensation for border farmers | | | Early Times Reporter Bishnah | Apr 6 MLA and senior leader of Jammu State Morcha (JSM) Ashwani Sharma have expressed his great concern that till date no compensation has been paid to the farmers, who in the past have suffered a lot due to Pakistan living along the border. Addressing a mammoth rally in border town Arnia falling under Bishnah Assembly segment said, it is very surprising that till date no cultivation is taking place in the areas ahead of border fencing, due to which local people are put to great trouble. He said, even government had promised to allot five marlas in farmers in safer areas who have been effected, but has failed to keep up the promises which had caused strong resentment among the farmers, even no recruitment has been made in the area. MLA further said during his five a half year tenure, several link roads, lanes and drains have been constructed in the border areas besides power and irrigation water distribution system has been improved. New electric poles, transforms and pump sets have been installed. He said efforts are on foot to make Arnia a model town and urged upon the government to extend the provision of reservation to the people living on International border on the pattern of people living on actual line of control. |
