| Army man shoots self, BSF jawan killed in accidental fire | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu | April 7
An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide on late Sunday night by shooting himself with his service rifle in Jammu.
Defence spokesperson said, the jawan has been identified as Sepoy Kitty Kumar, 21.He is a resident of Mehsana in Gujarat.
He said the jawan was posted on guard duty at 22 ammunition coy under operational command of 9 corps here when he shot himself with his service rifle Sunday night. We have ordered a court of inquiry to ascertain the facts.
Meanwhile, a Border Security Force jawan was killed when his rifle went off accidentally while he was on duty at a camp in Rajouri district, officials said today.
Jawan Jasbir Singh of 69 battalion of BSF was posted on guard duty at Triyath camp when suddenly his gun went off late last night. The bullet pierced through his head, killing him on the spot, they said.
Officers rushed to the place after hearing the gun shot and found him lying in a pool of blood. |
