Early Times Report

Rajouri, Jan 4: With the announcement of establishment of government degree college at Doongi and higher education department's order dated January 3 for examination of location for government degree college at Peeri (in Darhal Assemly constituency), the inhabitants of Manjakot town/tehsil feel cheated.
Inhabitants of the Manjakot tehsil have been demanding Degree College for the last more than 10 years alleging the government has put their demand away callously.
"Doongi is just 10 kilometre away from Rajouri HQs where Post Graduate College is already in operation and it doesn't fulfil any criterion while Manjakot is 21 kilometre from Rajouri town and covers many border villages upto Bhimber Gali , border of Poonch & Rajouri districts" said people of Manjakot.
Castigating the local MLA Ch Qamar Hussain for his negative role in this matter (shifting of the college to Doongi) people alleged the future of the youths of the area once again is in jeopardy.
Representatives of the people alleged that inhabitants of Manjakot have several times were on the roads in protest against the step motherly treatment to this area dominated by a particular tribe.
People from every walk of life and political and religious leaders despite their associations with different organisations came on one plate form and with one voice criticised the decision to ignore their area as for as opening of new government college was concerned.
