| Solider kill's wife after verbal duel | | Police arrests accused, recovers weapon of offence | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 7 A woman was brutally murdered by her husband, who is serving in Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI), after a verbal duel between the two in Doomi Village of Akhnoor, about 40 kilometers from here, on Monday afternoon. Official sources said that a woman, identified as Chinta Devi of Doomi village under the jurisdiction of police station Grota, was shifted in a critical condition to Sub District Hospital Akhnoor by her own husband, Naik Jasbeer Singh, this afternoon. The woman, who had received several injuries on her body, was shifted to Army hospital by the authorities soon after she was admitted in the hospital. However, the lady succumbed to her injuries in the hospital, sources added. It was reliably learnt that the husband of the deceased fled immediately after shifting the later to the hospital. The army authorities immediately informed the police, which rushed to the spot and seized the body. As the body had visible injury marks, police rushed to the house of the woman and seized the house. A sharp edge weapon with blood was recovered from one of the room in the house. Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Akhnoor Atul Sharma told News Agency of Kashmir that preliminary investigation revealed that the woman has been murdered with a shape edged weapon. The needle of suspicion, he said, was towards the husband of the deceased, who fled from the hospital after shifting her wife in critical condition. He added that a case has been registered and investigation has been taken up to ascertain the fact. However, sources, preferring anonymity, disclosed that the solider, Naik Jasbeer Singh was arrested by the police, this evening. He was being questioned at Grota police station, they added. It has been learnt that the couple had a verbal duel following which the army jawan attacked her wife with a sharp edged weapon resulting in her death. They said that the couple is permanent resident of Guramanhansa and have recently shifted to Doomi area of Akhnoor. They added that the solider was in his house on leave. |
