| ‘Name bridge over Chenab after Sher-e-Duggar’ | | | Early Times Reporter

Shivalik Puram Welfare Committee (SPWC) has decided to approach to the government to name the 2nd bridge over Chenab river as ‘Sher-e-Duggar’ Lala Hans Raj Mahajan.
In this regard meeting of the office bearer, under the president Chand Khanna held here today. He said that since Lala Hans Raj Mahajan was a so great social reformer and worked through out his entire life for the down trodden people more over he was born in Akhnoor in Mirpur Sidhar area but he worked throughout his life for organizing Dogras of Jammu. He was elected unanimously as member of assembly in July 1936, where he highlighted the social evils of the people, and proposed effective measures to shun these evils. He was instrumental in establishment of Mahajan, Chand Khanna said that Hans Raj Mahajan founded Dogra Sadar Sabha, acted as general secretary Rajput Sabha and founded all India Mahajan Shiromoni Sabha and started Dogra Gazett, Mahajan Samachar News paper etc.
Among others members of the meet were Rakesh Gupta Senior Vice president, Bodh Raj General Secretary, Amit Khanna Secretary and Naresh Gupta. |
