| Thousands KPs celebrate Navreh at Hari Parbat, Anangpur | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 7 One could easily mistake the bonhomie, the celebrations, the hillock and the populace for a festival celebration in Kashmir. Atop the highest hills of the Aravallis, in the village of Ananagpur in Faridabad, the Pandits living in and around Delhi celebrated the arrival of the Navreh or the Kashmiri New Year. The temple atop the hill houses the idol of Goddess Sharika, the Presiding deity of Kashmir. The hill has been manicured and landscaped in a manner that it gives the impression of the famed Badam-Vaer (almond Garden) of Kashmir. Every year on the eve of the Navreh, more than 20,000 Kashmiri Pandits living in and around Delhi converge on this replica of the temple of Sharka to pay obeisance to the deity. It also gives the exiled community a chance to meet their erstwhile relatives, neighbours and friends, Said Som Nath Kaul. It is here that I meet a lot of my neighbours from Rainawari. The place surprisingly is also called Hari Parbat after its much famed original in Kashmir. We relive the nostalgia of celebrating the Navreh at the foothills of the Hari Parbat. We may have been driven out of our homes but it is our resilience that we continue to observe all our festivals and auspicious days even in exile said a jubilant Aseem Bhat, a member of a Youth Initiative called the "Roots in Kashmir" Last year, in a star studded festival the legendary film personality Anupam Kher had flown down from Mumbai to be a part of the festivities. It brings together the nostalgia of the past and the hope of future, said Aditya Raj Kaul, a well known youth activist in India. The Youth Festival is a platform for young and budding Kashmiri artists to showcase their talent. The celebrations and prayers continued all night till the arrival of the first rays of sun on the New Year. This year the melody queen of J&K Kailash Mehra herself had come all the way to the venue to perform for the community members living in New Delhi & N.C.R. Thousands couldn't resist singing and dancing along the tunes of "Dimyo Dilaase..." and so on. Later, Sanjeev Raina Gautam enthralled the audience with Chakri and hot Kashmiri numbers; which made the young and the old dance on the same platform while young and dynamic Kashmiri singer from Jammu Ravi Bhan as well romanticized the mooed with his ghazals; both in Kashmiri and Hindi followed by a dance recitation by young Jyotika Patwari. Disciple of Krishen Langoo; young Sumit Toshkhani as well kept the audience in great excitement with his soft voice. Padmashri J.N. Kaul, fondly called Papaji encouraged hundreds of others devotees with the special prayers. In his address to the gathering; he wished long life too all with a great vision to remain in touch with the youth. He appreciated the work done by the young team of RIK and wished them luck for future. Special blessings and prayers were sent across specially this time from His Holiness Dalai Lama from Dharmasala; who could not himself attend this special Navreh event due to current tension in Tibet. Among others who attended this event were Inspector General. |
