| Gross violation of recruitment rules | | ‘Several persons make entry into govt. service below the prescribed age limit’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 7 It is not only surprising but rather intriguing that several persons in the past have made their entry into the government service at the age of just 14 years although the prescribed minimum age for entry has been fixed at 18 years. A cursory look of the advertisement issued by the General Administration Department and published by a section of local dailies here today notifying the seniority list of the section officers of heads of departments reveal that some of the officials have entered into government service much before attaining the eligible age. One Mohammed Ibrahim whose date of birth is April 1, 1950 has made his entry into the government service on November 3, 1966, while Abdul Latif Matoo has entered into service just at the age of plus 15 years. Matoo having date of birth as January 26, 1952 is shown to have joined the service as on September 8, 1966. There are other such cases also where the officials have joined the government service much before their eligibility. T K Kaul is also shown to have entered into service at the age of just 16 while his other colleague Anil Kumar Anand got entry just at the age of 17 years. T K Kaul, whose date of birth is shown as March 15, 1951 got entry into government service on March 13, 1967 while Arun Kumar Anand with date of birth as January 18, 1951 got entry into service on December 1, 1968 when they were less than 18 years of age. There is no denying the fact that scores of other employees who were below the prescribed age have made their entry into several government departments which calls for scrutinizing the records, especially the date of birth certificates, as in the past too several officials have managed duplicate date of birth certificates or tampered with their service books to get pecuniary benefits. |
