| Azad reviews arrangements for Mahila wing convention | | Asks party workers to strengthen Congress | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 8 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has exhorted Congress workers to work with greater zeal to strengthen the party in Jammu & Kashmir, adding that in the year of elections each Congress person was expected to contribute to the party’s victory. Addressing a meeting of Mahila Congress functionaries, corporators, councilors and senior women leaders of the party from Jammu division, the Chief Minister called upon them to mobilize party activists for a grand show on April 12 in connection with the one-day convention of women here to be addressed by the Congress President and UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi. The Chief Minister reviewed arrangements for the upcoming rally. He stressed on the need for the women party workers to educate the womenfolk about the policies and programmes of the Congress led governments at the Centre and in Jammu & Kashmir. He told them to focus on the achievements made by the State government during the past over two years in every sector of the economy. The Chief Minister said that the convention was being held on a grand scale at Jammu for the first time. He said the convention, besides unfolding the massive development the State had witnessed under the Congress-led coalition government, would also strengthen the party at the grassroots level. He called for large participation of women in the convention. Minister for Health & Medical Education, Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Rural Development, Mula Ram, Minister for Higher Education, Gulchain Singh Charak, Advisor to CM, Janak Raj Gupta, Legislators, S. Praduman Singh and Farida Mir, State Mahila Congress President, Swaran Lata and senior Congress leader, Dharam Pal Sharma also participated in the meeting. |
