| ABVP organizes blood donation camp | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 8 Jammu University unit of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad today organised a blood donation at Jammu University in the memory of martyrs of 1857. More than 60 ABVP activists, including girls, donated blood during the camp, which was organized at the Environment Sciences building. Chairman Citizen Cooperative bank, who was the chief guest on the occasion, lauded the ABVP for its constructive activities and said that such student organisations should be encouraged. All India organizing Secretary ABVP, Sunil Ambekar who was the main speaker on the occasion said that such occasions provide us an opportunity to evaluate our performance towards the nation and introspect as a responsible citizen of the country . Listing the martyrs, including Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Sukhdev, Subash Chander Bose, Chandershekhar Azad, Mahatma Gandhi, Lala Lajpat Rai and others, Mr Azad reminded that it was only because of the sacrifices of these martyrs that India got independence from the British rule. He termed the martyrs as role models for nation building. He appealed to the youth to work together to fulfill dreams of martyrs to make the country strong, remove poverty and make people literate with equal rights and justice to all citizens Head of Department of the GMC Blood Bank, Dr Kum Kum Sharma explained the importance of blood donation and appreciated the ABVP activists for fully understanding the meaning of ‘Raktdan Mahadan’. President ABVP Jammu University Unit, Mukesh Sharma highlighted various activities of the organization. He stressed that the ABVP activists will always remain ahead in constructive activities besides raising issues pertaining to the student’s community. |
