| Kailash Tourism festival concludes at Bhadarwah | | | BHADARWAH, AUGUST 28 : Week-long Kailash Tourism festival which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad on August 19 concluded here the other day. Wrestling matches and distribution of mementoes/ recitation certificates to the participating persons were the highlights of the valedictory function. About 20,000 spectators including women folk had thronged the venue to witness the wrestling bouts between the wrestlers of U.P, Punjab, West Bengal, H.P, Haryana and the state. In the final match, Mr. Rehmat Ali of Bhallesa was declared winner and given cash prizes. The wrestling match conducted by Mr. Shafkat Hussain, President of Dangal Committee, Bhadarwah. Kailash Festival was organized by the Bhadarwah Development Authority to expose the bewitching landscapes of the area to attract tourists in a big way. A number of tour operator agencies of the state and country having international repute were invited by the Chief Minister on festival. In addition, a number of cultural programmes, folk dances, folk lore, painting and sculpture on every evening Bhadarwah-ki-Sham, was the special cultural feature in which artists from Padder, Bhallesa, Doda, Jammu and Bhadarwah participated. On August 23, Adventure Tourism Day was celebrated by way of daylong para gliding at G.H.S.S. (Boy) ground, which was witnessed by thousands of people. Speaking at the conclusion of the function, the Chief Executive Officer, Bhadarwah Development Authority thanked the people, government agencies, police for their sincere and whole-hearted cooperation in making the festival a success and result oriented. He said that strenuous efforts are being made by the Bhadarwah Development Authority to create tourist infrastructure in the area at the earliest to attract more and more tourist including Adventure Tourism for which the experts have identified seven hill tops in Bhadarwah area, the large Para gliding in the world. He disclosed that BDA contemplates to organize training to local interested youth in para gliding games skills. Prior to this, the CEO also released a local publication “Bazam” by Iqbal Bazme Adab Bhadarwah, which is a collection of local folk-tales, history Urdu and Kashmiri poetry chapters. The book has been written and compiled under the guidance of poet, educationist Sagar Sehrae of Bhadarwah. |
