Rajinder shines in Athletics as Armed Zone dominates team events
Inter-Zone Sports Meet of Jammu and Kashmir Police

Rajinder Kumar of Jammu Zone made it a double gold win in Athletics amidst complete domination by the Armed Zone in team events on the day two of the Annual Inter-Zone Sports Meet of Jammu and Kashmir Police underway at different venues here today.
Rajinder’s both medals came in field events of Shot Put and Javelin Throw. Among others who won gold in Athletics include Tahir Ahmed (400 mts), Showkat Ahmed (Long Jump) of Armed Zone and Ram Raj (1500 mts) of Jammu Zone.
In another individual event of Weight Lifting Armed Zone proved its metal winning five of the nine medals decided in as many weight categories.
Meanwhile, in team events, likewise last year, Armed Zone has made it into the finals of Volleyball, Basketball, Handball and Kabaddi. It is pertinent to mention here that last year Armed Zone had clinched winners trophies in all the team events of Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Tug of War. The team of INETL SECT comprised of Intelligence, Telecom, Security, CID and Traffic is doing a good job this time by making into the final of Handball beating the last year’s silver medalist, Training Zone in the semi-finals today.
The detailed results:

ATHLETICS: 400 mts: Tahir Ahmed, Armed Zone, Ist; Kundal Lal, Jammu Zone, 2nd and Kultar Singh, Training Zone, third. 1500 mts: Ram Raj, Jammu Zone, Ist; Reyaz Ahemd, Armed Zone, 2nd and Manzoor Ahmed, INTEL SECT, third. Shot Put: Rajinder Kumar, Jammu Zone, Ist; Insp. Mohd Sadique, Armed, 2nd and Mandeep Singh, INTEL SECT, third. Javelin Throw: Rajinder Kumar, Jammu Zone, Ist; Harcharan Singh, Training Zone, 2nd and Rattan Lal, Auziliary, third. Long Jump: Showkat Ahmed, Armed Zone, Ist; Shabir Ahmed, Kashmir Zone, 2nd and Gurbachan Singh, Auxiliary, third.
WEIGHTLIFTING: 56 kg: Surjit Dingra, Training Zone, Ist and Ct. Amit Gupta, Armed Zone, 2nd. 62 kg: Sgct Mohd Zulf, Armed Zone, Ist and Ct. Sat Paul, Training Zone, 2nd. 69 kg: Ct. Ravinder Kumar, Armed Zone, Ist and Ct. Mukhtar-U-Din, Armed Zone, 2nd. 77 kg: Ct. Narinder Chib, Armed Zone, Ist and Ct. Muatan Sing, Training Zone, 2nd. 85 kg: Ct. Rajnesh Kumar, Armed Zone, Ist and ASI Dilbag Singh, INTEL SECT, 2nd. 94 kg: SI Davinder Singh, INTEL SECT, Ist and Ct. Paramjeet Singh, Armed Zone, 2nd. 105 kg: Sgct Rajinder Kumar, Jammu Zone, Ist. Plus 105 kg: Ct. Maninder Singh, Armed Zone, Ist and Ct. Surinder Singh, Armed Zone, third.
VOLLEYBALL: In volleyball, defending champion, Armed Zone today made it into the final beating Jammu Zone in straight sets in the semi-finals. Winning their quarterfinal against Auxiliary Zone 3-0, INTEL SECT have qualified for the semi-finals.
BASKETBALL: Armed Zone will take on Jammu Zone in the final tomorrow to defend the title. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Jammu Zone beat Training Zone 29-10 while Armed Zone outplayed INTEL SECT 33-20.
FOOTBALL: In football, INETL SECT and Kashmir Zone won their respective ties to advance into the next round. The results: INTEL SECT bt Training Zone and Kashmir Zone bt Jammu Zone.
TUG OF WAR: Training Zone and Kashmir won their today’s matches beating Auziliary and INTEL SECT respectively.
HANDBALL: Defending champions, Armed Zone and INTEL SECT today qualified for the final. In the semi-finals, Armed Zone beat Jammu Zone 28-25 in a close contest while INTEL SECT trounced Training Zone 14-12 again in a neck to neck contest. In the quarterfinals, Jammu Zone beat Kashmir Zone 21-15 and INTEL SECT trounced Auxiliary Zone.
KABADDI: Training Zone will lock horns against title holders, Armed Zone in Kabaddi. Earlier, in the semi-finals played today Training Zone trounced Jammu Zone 40-30 while Armed Zone defeated Kashmir Zone 72-17.
HOCKEY: In Hockey, Jammu Zone and Kashmir Zone won their respective ties today. While Jammu Zone beat Training Zone, Kashmir Zone defeated Auxiliary.
