| Afghan Defense Minister visiting J&K | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 8 As Jammu and Kashmir offers to the world lessons on rough terrain warfare, the Afghanistan Defense Minister is all set to visit the state in next few days. He is scheduled to visit the forward fields, Army formations and have meeting with the Army officers here, sources said. Afghanistan Defence Minister Abdul Rahim Wardak has already arrived in New Delhi on a week-long visit and before traveling to Jammu and Kashmir for a brief on counter-insurgency operations, he will hold talks with Indian leaders and Defense authorities. Wardak, heading a seven-member high-powered delegation, is expected to hold talks with Defence Minister A K Antony and top brass of Indian military on security issues. Wardak, when arrives in Jammu and Kashmir, will become the first Afghan Defence Minister to do so in three decades. He will visit Srinagar-based 15 Corps headquarters where he would be given a presentation on the way Indian army conducts its counter insurgency operations, Defense sources said here. Wardak will also visit Indian Air Forces Training Command at Bangalore amid reports that Afghanistan might be considering sending its Air Force pilots for training in India. Reports said the Afghan delegation will also visit Hindustan Aeronautics Limited complex in Bangalore where they will be shown the progress made by India in manufacturing its first Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) and Advance Light Helicopter 'Dhruv'. |
