| Give BJP a chance: Ashok Khajuria | | Nirmal takes UPA to task for revoking POTA | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 10 BJP State President Ashok Khajuria, along with former Union Minister Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta and Member National Executive and former State president Dr. Nirmal Singh today addressed a constituency level “Karyakarta Sammelan” at Billawar which was organized by party State vice-president Satish Sharma. Addressing the rally, Ashok Khajuria said that the Congress-led coalitions in the state and at the centre have failed on all fronts. The steep rise in the prices of food items has threatened the very survival of a common citizen. Wrong implementation of the recommendations of the Wazir Commission in the state has exposed the Kashmir-centric policy of the Congress. The plight of the refugees of West Pakistan, refugees of 1965 and 1971 is miserable, he alleged and said the past record has proved that Congress, National Conference and PDP have ditched the Jammu and ignored it in all matters and at all levels. He said all these parties are Kashmir-centric and are only concerned for development of the Kashmir. Not only this, these parties have also hurt the national interests in the state. He said the people of Jammu province have suffered a lot by the anti-Jammu policies of the Congress, NC and PDP and appealed the people to give a chance to BJP. Former Union Minister Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta in his address applauded the splendid role of members of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) in far flung and militancy-hit areas of the state in helping the security forces in eliminating militants. He said it is unfortunate that these people are not paid their emoluments for months together. He also demanded provision of modern and latest weapons to the VDCs so that they can face the militants more effectively. Member National Executive Dr. Nirmal Singh, on this occasion, expressed grave concern over the attitude of the state government towards educated youth. He said youth with professional and technical qualifications are sitting on dharnas for the last one year demanding jobs. Those in the service too are raising anti-government slogans as salaries are not given to them for months together. People engaged on contractual and adhoc basis are also coming on roads for their regularization but no one cares. He also criticized the government for adopting soft approach towards the terrorism. He also took the Congress-led UPA to task for revoking anti-terror law like POTA. Satish Sharma in his address, counted a number of burning issues which has added more problems to the already suffering people of the Kandi areas and sought immediate redressal of the same. BJP State Gen. Secretary (Organization) Ajay Jamwal, Kathua District President Prof. Sain Dass, Kissan Morcha leader Rashpal Verma, District General Secretary Vikas Sharma, Mandal President Chaggar Singh, Ganesh Basotra, Sudesh Kumar, Kuldeep Gupta, Ashanand Khajuria and Kuldep Abrol were prominent among those who also addressed the rally. |
