Jammu, Jan 17: A meeting of J&K College Teachers Association CTA was held today with President Prof. DS Manhas in the chair, to discuss the issue pertaining to filling of the posts of Assistant Professors by the Public Service Commission which have been referred to it by the Higher Education Department.
The J&K College Teachers Association (CTA) showed a strong resentment on the issue and expressed that PSC is showing a lackadaisical approach thereby affecting the functioning of the colleges in the state.
It is pertinent to mention here that Higher Education Department has referred about 800 Posts of Assistant Professors to PSC for selection of the candidates about one year back but PSC is sitting on the file and have not as yet advertised the posts.

In this regard CTA has alredy represented for the creation of 1500 posts of Assistant Professors in the existing colleges in addition to the posts to be created in 40 new colleges to cater to the needs of the students
CTA appealed to the Governor, J&K State to issue directions to PSC that the process for selection of posts of Asstt. Professors referred to it ,be expedited so that the vacant posts are filled immediately and paucity of staff in Govt. Degree Colleges is removed to some extent.
