Al-Badr commander among 3 militants killed, one arrested

While Police and Army killed three militants, including a top Al- Badr Commander, involved in the killing of two police constables from Lolab area of Kupwara, one militant belonging to HM outfit was arrested from elsewhere in Kashmir valley today.
Police sources quoting SSP Kupwara, Vijay Kumar, said that after receiving information about the presence of some militants at Putshahi forest in Lolab area, cops of police and 2 Para regiment of Army rushed towards the area and launched search operation.
As the security forces zeroed in onto the target, militants fired upon them triggering off an encounter during which three unidentified militants were gunned down, he added.
Police said that one of the militants have been identified as Imran alias Ali Haider, District commander Al Badr.
Imran was involved in the kidnapping and subsequent killing of two police constables of Police Station Sogam a week ago.
He said that identity of other two militants is being ascertained. Two AK 56 rifles, one AK 47 rifle, 477 rounds of AK ammunition, ten hand grenades (destroyed on spot) and wireless set (damaged) were recovered from the slain militants. Police has registered a case in this regard.
Meanwhile HM militant was arrested from village Naina in Pulwama today. Police sources said that on a specific information Police, and 31-RR apprehended a Pak Trained Militant of HM outfit.
The arrested militant has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh, s/o Abdul Gani, R/o Rampora Kulgam. One Identity card issued by Registrar General of Pakistan was recovered from him. Police has registered a case in this regard.
