| Fresh survey to update BPL household list on anvil: Mula Ram | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 10 The Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to conduct a fresh survey to update the list of Blow Poverty Line (BPL) households in the state. The announcement was made by Minister for Rural Development Mula Ram while addressing a public meeting at Ghari village on the outskirts of Jammu city. Mula Ram said that the new list would be finalized after three separate surveys by three different departments to avoid complaints of ignoring the genuine families as received earlier. He said it is a fact that deserving families have been left out in the list formulated after the earlier survey conducted during last government. The revision of the BPL list has become due as the central guidelines of the schemes meant for such households provides for updating of the BPL families after every five years, minister added. Minister said that the present government is committed to ensure that the benefits of the welfare schemes percolate down to the targeted population. He said with this objective in mind the state government has decided to get the fresh survey done by three agencies to get the actual picture and added that the survey which is conducted on certain indicators would also recommend the deletion of families whose financial condition has improved over these years. Expressing gratitude to the union government, he said all this could not have become possible without the liberal funding by the UPA government. He said the state has received a whooping 1200 crore Rs under NREGA which has now been extended to entire state. A team of officials and Engineers of PHE, Education, Rural Development and Flood and Irrigation were also accompanying the Minister. |
