25 traders booked under W&M Act

RAJOURI, AUGUST 28 - With an objective to ensure the consumers to get full weight of essential commodities from the traders, Controller, Legal Metrology Wing, Rajouri launched a vigorous campaign against the unscrupulous traders in the district.
According to Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, 758 traders were booked in a raid at different parts of the town and compounded Rs. 84000 from the defaulters as penalty for selling under weight of essential goods as well as LPG gas cylinders in the district.
The department also conducted raid to the sale of LPG cylinders and found that same were distributed from a truck to the consumers less in weight by 150 gms to 340 grams, 9 cylinders were seized. A case was registered against Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and compounded Rs. 1000 before releasing the cylinders.
