Except for Football, the Armed Zone retained the championships in all the Team events in the five-day Inter-Zone Sports Meet of Jammu and Kashmir Police which will culminate with the holding of valedictory function tomorrow at Police Stadium, Gulshan Ground, here.
In today’s finals, Armed Zone clinched Hockey and Volleyball trophies beating the combined teams of INTEL SECT. In Hockey Armed Zone trounced the opponent by three goals to two while in Volleyball it was a straight set victory.
However, the INTEL SECT emerged winner in Football beating Auxiliary Zone by two goals to one.
Meanwhile, in individual events of Boxing and Athletics the winners were presented medals today. In Boxing, Inspector General of Police (Security) gave away medals to the winners and runners-up of different weight groups at boxing of Gulshan Ground, here in the afternoon.
Likewise, in team events, Armed Zone completely dominated the individuals events of Shooting, Weight Lifting, Wrestling, Swimming and Boxing leaving other zones far behind in medals tally.
