| Imposter held, duped people on pretext of providing jobs | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 10 City police held an imposter involved in swindling huge amounts on the pretext of providing government jobs besides threatening high profile personalities. The imposter has been identifying himself a senior officer of the Crime Branch and the State Vigilance Organization. The imposter, identified as Ghulam Farid s/o Mohammed Iqbal r/o Ari, Mendhar, had made SMGS hospital as his operation headquarter. He has been always found roaming near gynecological ward and making close contacts with the patients and their attendants posting himself as Crime Branch officer. He has been making tall claims that he could arrange government jobs for the unemployed youth. Lured by the promises, several people fell prey and paid handsome amount to the imposter on the condition of providing jobs. Incharge police post SMGS Hospital Kirti Sharma when contacted by the EARLY TIMES said that police had been receiving information about the swindler and accordingly a trap was under the supervision of SDPO Swantantrta Arora and the arrested the accused from SMGH premises. The sources said that Surjeet Kour, a nurse in SMGS hospital, was one of the victims of the imposter. The accused on the pretext of providing job to her 12th class studying girl swindled Rs 5000 as advance payment though he demanded Rs. one lakh from her. Similarly Darshna Devi and Ravinder Kour, attendants were also swindled by Rs 4000 and Rs 1000 on the pretext of providing jobs to their kin. Some doctors of SMGS hospital also lost thousands of rupees falling in his trap. A case under section 321, 419 RPC has been registered against him and his interrogation was on to elicit more information. |
