Jammu | Apr 11
The Jammu State Morcha (P) has taken a strong exception to the withdrawal of the special incentive provided to the industries in Jammu and Kashmir State in the form of central excise duty and exemption on the industrial products manufactured in the state. As per press release withdrawal of central excise and exemption by the government of India from 1st April, 2008 is going to adversely effect the industrial growth in the state which has show the sign of some improvement in the last few years in this militancy hit state. Because of the withdrawal of incentives some of the industrial units may face even closure. The incentives provided has encouraged the number of outside investors as well as the local ones in investing for setting up new industries and also in improving the earlier existing units. Rescind excise exemption when the units have started becoming economically viable shall gave a great set back to the industrial growth. Morcha asks the government of India to withdrawal the present notification and allow the industries to enjoy the benefits under the notification 50 of 2002.
Jammu state Morcha also urges the union government to grant a special package to the J&K state for the creation of special economic zones (SEZs) and for industrial infra structure. Food processing, agro and forest based industries, floriculture, handloom and handicraft exports, gems; leather processing and leather goods, drugs and hosiery etc are the most potential areas to attract investment.
He strongly condemns the proposal of converting the present assemblies in Jammu and Kashmir and in POJK into regional councils to evolve joint mechanism on the undivided J&K state between New Delhi and Islamabad. The proposal mooted Mehbooba Mufti, while in Pakistan. Such a proposal shall cause chaos and confusion and make the state more vulnerable to communal extremism and create instability not only in J&K but in the whole of the subcontinent. The proposal is against the aspirations of the people of all the three regions of the state as they well be governed by the two central government of India and Pakistan. The people of Jammu region and that of Ladakh shall strongly oppose such moves as these undermines their interest and lead the Jammu and Kashmir state to become a theocratic.
Speakers also said the revelation in the media that there are about 40,000 posts lying vacant since long in the different department of the state reflects the deliberate apathy of the government towards the acute unemployment problem being faced by the youth particular in Jammu region. Both the government the present one and that of the previous NC government are responsible for this deliberate criminal negligence. Morcha demands that immediate steps be taken to fill these vacancies and till proper employment is provided to the youth of the state, they be given unemployment allowance sufficient to meet their livelihood and day to day expenses.
The press conference was also addressed by Chowdhary Abdul Rouf Ganai, H.B Khajuria, Dig. Vijay Singh, Virender Magotra, Devinder Singh Jamwal.
