Pawan Gupta refutes Mankotia's BPL beneficiary allegation
1/24/2019 11:18:27 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 24: Ex-MLA Udhampur, Pawan Kumar Gupta has refuted the allegations of former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia's that he had included himself as a BPL beneficiary to avail the benefits of Ayushmann Bharat Scheme. Addressing a press conference Pawan Gupta said that, as per the information provided by the DC, Udhampur, this list has been based on the data collected from the SEC which was prepared in 2010-11. He said he has never registered or signed any form applying for inclusion in the same. He further insinuated that he "smells mischief" here by Mankotia who was the sitting MLA at the time the list was prepared. He went on to further suggest that the data includes more than 50 % of Indian population including several prosperous families which could also point to a general error in the data collection or filtration of the same. "Once informed of the situation, I immediately and categorically asked both the DC and the CMO to strike off my name from the list which they could unfortunately not do as it was beyond their respective jurisdictions to do so. This fact can be confirmed from the DC and the CMO directly," said Gupta. He also pointed out that he or any of his family members has never availed of any benefit arising from the said scheme or got any golden card issued and any other facilities availed from the said scheme nor do they plan to do so in future. Pawan Gupta demanded thorough probe and enquiry into the matter and challenged Mankotia to produce signatory evidence in support of his "baseless allegations" or else "face consequences" in the court of law for tarnishing his reputation.
