Jammu | Apr 11
Over one dozen female workers of BJP on Friday received minor injuries in the scuffle with the police near Civil secretariat on Shalimar road when they were protesting against the price rise of essential commodities
.The situation went out of hands when few agitating workers of the Mahila Morcha tried to break open the cordon and started running towards the civil secretariat building. In the absence of adequate number of women police force few constables tried to stop the BJP workers from marching ahead and prevented their advance by physically stopping them. This infuriated other workers who started raising anti government slogans.
Mahila Morcha had organized the protest against sky rocketing prices of essential items and after taking out protest march assembled at the city chowk before proceeding further.
The protestors led by Morcha State President Usha Choudhary after passing through main bazars of Jammu city, reached City Chowk, where Mahila Morcha activists, started beating the empty vessels with spoons and raised slogans-‘Jab Jab Congress Aayee Hai, Mehangayee Layee Hai.’
While addressing the protestors Usha Choudhary lambasted the Congress-led governments both at the Centre and in the state and said that women are most affected by their maladministration. She said that sky rocketing price rise has most adversely affected the female folk who have to manage and run the kitchen. She said that state government is patently anti-women. She declared that the Morcha will further intensify its agitation in the coming days and reach the masses to expose Congress-led UPA and Congress-led coalition in the state for its anti-poor and anti-women policies.
