| Rana advised PDP for self introspection to search for its misdeeds | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 11 Commenting on the statement of the PDP that Indian High Commission in Pakistan had fixed Mehbooba’s appointment with Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharief, the National Conference in a statement said that the PDP spokesman has made a vehement effort to justify the role of Indian High Commission of Pakistan in fixing her appointment. Devender Singh Rana, MLC and Media Advisor to the President National Conference said here today that Omar Abdullah has never ever denied his role in Union Council of Ministers but to pickup his sentences here and there without referring to the context in which they have been made and the circumstances on the ground prevailing then is unjustified and misleading. He said the role of the Patron of the PDP first as the PCC President of the State and then as the Home Minister of the country is well known to the people of the state. Jagmohan's appointment, numerous massacre in Kashmir that followed, firing on the procession of the coffin Moulvi Farooq and the migration of Kashmiri Pandits, not to speak of his role of getting Advani released from jail during the infamous rath yatra all speak volumes of the role of the Patron of the PDP viz-a-viz Kashmir and need a lot of explaining by the PDP which they have by a design avoided to clarify, he said. Rana said PDP must emulate the NC leadership that it has the courage to standup and apologize while the PDP who has a lot more to defend lacks the courage to publicly apologize for its and its leaders misdeeds. He said Omar Abdullah did meet President Musharaf during his visit to Pakistan but denied that his meeting was fixed by the then Indian High Commissioner. He said in fact Omar's appointment was fixed through a National Conference Member Parliament who used his back channel contacts and a number of non-resident Kashmiris to do so. The Media advisor said that Omar during his meeting with the President Musharaf did not discuss anything related to the property of Abdullah's in Pakistan and said that he had Omar's mandate to suggest that if at any point of time it can be proved that Omar discussed any such personal matter with President Musharaf during their meeting, Omar will quit politics for good that very same day. He said it is unfortunate that PDP is unnecessarily, by a dubious design making an effort to rake up such controversies when none exist by not clarifying their President's role in Pakistan and also not clarifying as to who's mandate was she carrying and who was she representing while in Pakistan. Rana said to the question as to who did Omar represents the answer is very clear that he represented the people of Jammu & Kashmir and their aspirations while in Pakistan. He said Omar and National Conference is unambiguously clear for its solution of Kashmir problem and do strongly feels that Autonomy as projected by National Conference is a viable sustainable solution to the Kashmir imbroglio. However, Rana said National Conference and its leadership has been repeatedly stating in J&K, all over the country and the globe that if by the process of a dialogue a consensus emerges between India & Pakistan and a solution is thrown up which is acceptable to the people of J&K and is better than autonomy solution of the National Conference, National Conference will gladly work for its successful implementation. Till date however it is clear that no party or individual has been able to suggest such a solution. This is evidenced by the fact that all opposition to the Autonomy road map is political and not legal or even constitutional. Rana said PDP is best advised to introspect and look inward and search for their own misdeeds and take corrective measures for that, rather than issuing sermons to others. He said NC has always stood by the people of Jammu & Kashmir and shall always work for their welfare and shall never allow political groups and politicians who have made a mockery of the democracy in the state and played divisive politics on the base of region, religion, caste and ethnicity to thrive in the state of J&K. |
