| Madan Lal chairs maiden meet of VMC | | Educate people about conservation of natural water resources, Lal Singh | | Early Times Reporter

The Vigilance and Monitoring Committee (VMC) Samba today had its first meeting in the district since its inception with its chairman, Madan Lal Sharma, in chair. Co-Chairman of the committee Ch. Lal Singh presided over the meeting.
District Development Commissioner, Samba, Saurabh Bhagat, who is the Member Secretary of the Committee, gave a detailed resume of physical and financial achievements registered under various centrally sponsored schemes of Ministry of Rural Development.
Addressing the meeting Madan Lal asked the officers to submit a detailed and comprehensive status report of all rural development centrally sponsored schemes in the district during the last 4 years.
The Member Parliament asked the DDC to ensure that the committee should organize awareness camps in every rural and far-flung pocket of the district.
Referring to implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), Sharma emphasized the need to launch a massive awareness campaign regarding this vital program to make it result-oriented. He said that this newly formed Vigilance and Monitoring Committee can do wonders in transforming the socio-economic profile of people living Below Poverty Line (BPL) by making them aware of the central schemes available to them under Rural Development besides keeping a strong vigil over the implementing agencies. He also sought people’s complete cooperation to the committee to meet the purpose of its constitution.
While holding detailed deliberations on various aspects of the RD schemes, Lal Singh asked the officers to keep in view the potential of the area while implementing any scheme. He exhorted upon them to educate the people about benefits of conserving natural water resources which would help the mankind in the long run.
Girdhari Lal, Yash Paul Kundal, legislators, Project Director-cum-Additional District Development Commissioner, SE PMGSY, SE Hydraulic, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dy. Director RD, CPO Samba, DSEO CD, Project Officer DRDA, BDOs Samba, Vijaypur and Ghagwal also attended the meeting. |
