NC to PDP: If not Mufti….

• Who brought Jagmohan to Kashmir?
• Who is responsive for firing on Mirwaiz’s funeral procession?
• Who is responsible for migration of KPs
• Who released Advani from jail during Rath Yatra
Over past few days the BJP and many other ‘acclaimed nationalist’ organizations had been asking for the channel which arranged Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti’s meetings with the leaders of Pakistan including Mian Nawaz Shrief and Asif Ali Zardari during her recent visit there. The truth is now out –it was the Indian High Commission in Islamabad which arranged all these meetings.
Mehbooba’s meetings with the top Pakistani leaders had been question by many. While parties like BJP accused her of promoting the Pakistani agenda the other parties like separatists as also the National Conference had accused her of lobbying on behalf of Government of India.
In an emotional outburst against the National Conference, the PDP has itself admitted that the meetings of Mehbooba were arranged through the Indian diplomats. The NC and PDP are these days drawn into a battle of words against each other. After their top leaders tired of addressing press conferences to throw dirt on each other, the game is now over to the media managers to counter the allegations and come up with fresh charges.
During its turn, the PDP in a statement issued on Thursday in reaction to the assertions of NC president Omar Andullah confirmed that Mehbooba’s meeting were arranged by the Indian High Commission. While this declaration can seen to silence the BJP which accuses PDP of nourishing separatist sentiments, at the same time it may not go well in the Kashmir Valley. The detractors of PDP in the Valley have always been accusing Mehbboba of carrying Indian agenda to Pakistan.
Meanwhile, in the latest round of counter allegations, the NC spokesman Devinder Rana has come openly with some questions for PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. While defending Omar Abdullah on the wide range of allegations leveled by PDP, Rana said that Omar’s each statement retrieved by the PDP from archives was appropriate to the prevailing circumstances when such observations were made whether in 2001 or nor now.
Rana said PDP must emulate the National Conference leadership that it has the courage to standup and apologize while the PDP who has a lot more to defend lacks the courage to publicly apologize for its and its leaders misdeeds. He said Omar Abdullah did meet President Musharaf during his visit to Pakistan but denied that his meeting was fixed by the then Indian High Commissioner. He said infact Omar's appointment was fixed through a National Conference Member Parliament who used his back channel contacts and a number of non-resident Kashmiris to do so.
The Media advisor to the NC President said that Omar during his meeting with the President Musharaf did not discuss anything related to the property of Abdullah's in Pakistan and said that he had Omar's mandate to suggest that if at any point of time it can be proved that Omar discussed any such personal matter with President Musharaf during their meeting, Omar will quit politics for good that very same day.
He said it is unfortunate that PDP is unnecessarily, by a devious design making an effort to rake up such controversies when none exist by not clarifying their President's role in Pakistan and also not clarifying as to who's mandate was she carrying and who was she representing while in Pakistan.
