| Governor greets people on Baisakhi | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 12 Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) S K Sinha has greeted the people on Baisakhi, hoping that the day would be celebrated in a spirit of joy and harmony. In a message, the Governor said that the day has a special significance in the glorious history of Sikhism as on this day, the Tenth Guru Guru Gobind Singhji founded the Khalsa Panth. The day also marks beginning of the New Year of the Indian Calendar and in various parts of the country it signifies the start of harvest, bringing farmers fruit of their toil, he added. General Sinha said the festivals like Baisakhi reflect the composite culture and rich ethos of the country, which is a unique symbol of unity in diversity in the world. 'Let's celebrate this festival to promote the social and national unity of our great country', the Governor exhorted. |
