The 60th anniversary of Rajouri Day to commemorate and pay homage to those sons of soil who laid down their lives for the liberation of Rajouri district in 1948 was celebrated today.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the liberation were carried out with great pomp and gaiety. The memorial service was marked by wreath laying by military and civil dignitaries.
Later, addressing the gathering Major General Vinod Bhatia, General Officer Commanding, 25 Infantry Division, emphasized the importance of Civil Military co-operation in combating the menace of terrorism which has adversely affected the peace and tranquility in the district.
Mohammed Rafiq Sheikh, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri also spoke on the occasion.
The highlights of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations were the Horse and Dog Show, Para Jumping and Parasailing. Ex-Servicemen interaction was also organized as part of the celebration. |
