| Chawla’s painting exhibition on display | | Art, finest medium to depict society: Mangat | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 13 Describing art as finest medium to depict feelings, highlight viscidities of life, sorrows, happiness, evils and righteousness, the Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma has said that paintings symbolize the voice of silence. Inaugurating a versatile painting exhibition of Kanchan Chawla, wife of District Development Commissioner, Jammu, at Abhinav Theatre on Sunday evening Mangat Ram appreciated the artists skill. He said Kanchan has successfully produced the choicest art for the connoisseurs of art with her subtle brushwork on canvass. Portraying various aspects of human life, society and happenings around, Kanchan has given food for thought to the viewers, Mangat said. He said Jammu and Kashmir has been an abode of great artists, musicians, painters, singers, writers, sculptors etc. The state possesses rich heritage of art and culture, which requires showcasing at various levels to educate and acquaint the younger generation about the memorabilia. The exhibition, among others, was witnessed by Minister for Rural Development Mula Ram, Legislator and ex-minister Yogesh Sawhney, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sudhanshu Pandey, Secretary Cultural Academy R. Masoodi, Joint Director Information S.K. Sharma, teachers, educationists, scholars, artists, students and the general public. Speaking on the occasion, Kanchan shared with the audience her experience in the field of art and said that her spouse has been a source of encouragement to her. She said from her childhood she was interested in the art of painting and chose this medium to depict the mankind and society. |
