| Karan Singh unveils Bust of Gulab Singh | | | Early Times Reporter

Chairman Trustee, Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust, Dr. Karan Singh unveiled the Bust of Maharaja Gulab Singh at SMGS Hospital premises here this evening.
Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mangat Ram Sharma was the chief guest.
A large number of people comprising prominent citizens, distinguished traders, senior civil and police officers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Pandit Mangat Ram said that India is fast developing as a force to reckon with in the world affairs with its economy growing at 8 per cent per annum and its democratic institutions thriving. He said this has been possible only because our country is based on the pillars of secularism, unity in diversity and federalism.
Talking about the great Dogra rulers, Sharma said that Gulab Singh was a legendary warrior who established the Dogra State.
Minister for Higher Education Gulchain Singh Charak also spoke on the occasion. Member Parliament Dr. Karan Singh extended Baisakhi greetings to the people and at the same time appreciated government's endeavor to showcase the Dogra culture by way of organizing events like Jammu festival. He called for rechristening Jammu University as Maharaja Gulab Singh University.
On this occasion, the learned Pandits from Raghunath Ji temple recited Vedic mantras .Later, a cassette "Kali Veer" was also released on the occasion. |
