| JK Academy stages Dogri play, ‘Allhad Goli Veer Sipai’ | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 13 In connection with Jammu Festival Academy of Art, Culture and Languages presented Dogri play Allhad Goli Veer Sipai. The play written by N.D. Jamwal and directed by Dr. Sudhir Mahajan today at Abhinav Theatre. The play is based on a popular fold song on the love pangas of Kunjoo and Chanchalo. Although sung throughout Duggar and few parts of Himachal Pradesh, this little song provides no or very little information about other characters involved in the love story. Therefore it’s knitting to make it a full-fledged stage play is the outcome of writer’s imaginative creativity supported with very sweet and lyrical dialogues in Dogri verses, throughout. Utilization of folk song, in pieces at appropriate places and development of characters in a romantic environment make it a unique piece of performing art and literature of impact on the viewers/readers. On the occasion Gulchain Singh Charak, Minister for Higher Education was the Chief Guest. While addressing the gatherinig Charak said that the academy also deserve appreciation as number of events has also been organized by it, to which thousands of artists from the state and outside got opportunity to show their caliber while performing different arts i.e. Folk and classical as well in the ongoing Jammu Festival. Through these performances old tradition of Dogra is being highlighted and people of Jammu get a opportunity to know their culture, tradition and heritage as well. Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, Secretary, Academy gave full detail of all programmes being organized by the Academy. He revealed that this year after the Darbar Move from Srinagar Academy has organized Seven State and National Theatre Festivals, young Theatre Workshops in which 36 plays have been staged in collaboration with N.Z.C.C Patiala, National School of Drama New Delhi and Sangeet Natak akademi, New Delhi and hoped that this will be remain continue in Kashmir also, he said. |
