| What has been the fate of Rs. 2800 cr NDA action plan for KPs, Gupta asks? | | Ridicules statement of Sonia Gandhi | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 14 Ridiculing the statement of Congress President Sonia Gandhi at the women conference here alleging that BJP did nothing for the welfare of Kashmiri Migrants, the former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta charged the UPA government at the centre and coalition in the state for scuttling Rs.2800 crore action plan initiated during NDA for rehabilitation of the migrants. ‘Attempts are being made to get this community wither away and the nationalist Muslim migrant families are being settled in Jammu areas for nefarious designs’, he alleged. Countering the charge of Sonia Gandhi, Prof Gupta pointed out that during the NDA regime, an action plan was chalked out for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants in the Valley to strengthen the feelings of nationalism in troubled Kashmir. Out of this earmarked whooping sum, over Rs.500 crore were spent for construction of housing flats at different places in and around Srinagar but after the change of guard at the Centre, the Congress led dispensation left the scheme half way and the large number of flats and other constructions made are being misused b y the Congress led coalition for other purposes with ulterior outlook of keeping the migrants out of Valley. Not only this, when the NDA was in power at the Centre, the then National Conference government of the state was persuaded to provide jobs to the Kashmiri migrant youth in Kashmir and regretted that this scheme too was buried deep by providing no job to the migrant KPs. Questioning the bona-fides of the Congress led governments, both at the Centre and the State, Prof Gupta asked when the government is claiming near normalcy in Kashmir valley why over 6000 Muslim migrant families are not being taken back for their permanent settlement in the valley and what is the plan for their rehabilitation. Holding Congress responsible for the communal division of the country, the BJP leader said that this leadership had not only conceded to the communal division but also later on granted a separate status to Jammu and Kashmir under communal considerations. This polity has been root cause of growth of communalism, fundamentalism and terrorism in Kashmir resulting in mass migration of Kashmiri Pandits and other nationalists, he alleged and asserted that only a strong will of nationalism could solve the problems of Kashmir as also elsewhere. |
