| Manhas condemn attack on PDP leader at Mendhar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER

The PDP’s office members Poonch held an emergency meeting to review the latest political situation in the district.
The meeting which was presided over by district President of PDP Hameed Manhas strongly condemned the attack by gunmen on the house of senior PDP leader Murtaza Khan at Mendhar during the intervening might of 22nd and 23rd August. The participants described it as act of cowardice aimed at creating terror in the region. The meeting expressed the incident of firing must be viewed as having link with an earlier attempt to made on the life of Murtaza Khan on June 3rd this year when a grenade was lobbed his room in Dak Bunglow Mendhar.
Manhas recalled that two accused involved in the grenade attack have been booked under PSS Act by the Mendhar Police who had confessed for having made the attempt on the life of Khan.
One of the accused namely Saddam son of Haji Bhallu Sarpach, a National Conference activists, and close aide of MLA Mendhar was bailed out by Munsiff Mendhar in July last while the other accused Tippu who was arrested by Jammu Police with live grenades from Bus Stand has been in the police custody.
Those who participated in the meeting included Sharief, Shamim Khan, Malik Attahullah, Ayoub Shabnan, Lal Hussain Mushtaq Advovate, Basharat Khan, Latif Qazi, Imtiaz Banday and Maqsood , Shamim Dar.
