| Bhim urges PM to name Dul-Hasti project after Mehta | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 14 Prof. Bhim Singh, chairman of JKNPP in a letter to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has urged to name Dul Hasti Hydel projected after the name of late. Om Mehta the son of the soil and the tallest in the century among the celebrities of Kishtwar region. He as per press release has said that Om Mehta was born and brought up in Kishtwar and made invaluable contributions for the development of the region as a union minister under Indira Gandhi’s leadership. He said Om Mehta was an architect of connectivity of the region particularly, that of Paddar area where the local people used to carry their essential commodities on the goats back and connected Paddar by road bringing a revolution in the region. It was because of his farsighted and commitment to the poverty stricken people that Dul Hasti Hydel Project was successfully launched in Kishtwar he said and added. This shall be a great gesture to the people of Kishtwar to name the said project after his name. He further said Om Mehta was the grandson of Mehta, Basti Ram who was ADC to legendary Dogra General Zorawar Singh who annexed Kargil and Ladakh with the boundaries of India. Singh hoped that Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of UPA may also consider this proposal which will transmit a unique message to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. |
