Omar wants Kashmiris’ inclusion in Kashmir talks

Srinagar | Apr 15
Insisting on inclusion of Kashmiris as a third party in finding a resolution to the Kashmir issue, National Conference president Omar Abdullah said this is a "basic necessity" for lasting peace in the South Asian region.
"We welcome any solution for resolution of Kashmir issue which is better than our stand of restoration of autonomy to the state. Kashmiris are the third party in the dispute and their inclusion in the efforts to find lasting solution is a basic necessity," he told a public rally at Kandi-Handwara in Kupwara district, 85 km from Srinagar.
He said due to efforts in improving relations between New Delhi and Islamabad, militancy has somewhat been controlled in Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah said his party would continue to support any efforts towards resolution of the Kashmir issue and establishing peace in the South Asian region.
He rapped Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for "failing to take action against PDP ministers Qazi Afzal and Tariq Hamid Karra for their alleged involvement in the forest scam despite vouching to end corruption".
