| Coca Cola adopts second school in Jammu | | Bhalla hands over fees cheque and stationary aid to 100 students of Govt Primary School Nanak Nagar | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 16 Coca-Cola India today announced a mammoth initiative in the field of education. It has committed to bear the annual educational expenses for more than 100 students studying in the Government Primary School, Nanak Nagar. This is the second school adopted by the company about a year back. Government Middle School, Marakhari, Channi Himmat in Jammu was the first school adopted by the Coca Cola five years back. The company has also supported the needy students by providing them required stationary for the whole year Notebooks, Pen, Pencil and Geometric boxes etc. This was announced today in the school premises by company's HR Manager, Vivek Tyagi in the esteemed presence of Raman Bhalla, MLA. Because of financial and support, the number of Student in the school has been increase up to 100, which was only 38 last year. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla lauded the efforts Coca Cola company in taking the initiative and coming forward in the aid of school students by providing their fees for the entire year and distributing stationery and notebooks among them. "By doing so the company has lessened the burden on the shoulders of the poor parents who face difficulty in affording the cost of education for their wards," Bhalla said. Speaking on the occasion, Tyagi said, "The Coca Cola Company has always played a lead role in developmental activities for the local community. Under the aegis of the Company's social initiative programme in Jammu, a concerted effort has been made in the education sector to strengthen the educational foundations of young people and also facilitate educational institutions - through infrastructural support". Coca-Cola India has been extremely proactive on educational development projects and in the past five years has provided a variety of benefits to over seven schools in the area. The Company has also initiated a policy to assist meritorious girl students and gives merit-based scholarships to them on an annual basis According to Amarjet Kaur, Headmistress of the School, they are extremely grateful to Coca-Cola for all the aid they have received. He said that the country needed more such companies to come forward and support the weaker sections of the society in the area of education. Among others present on the occasion were Jammu Municipal Corporation councillor Kailash Devi, Zonal Education Officer Urmil Kanta and member of the school committee Gurubhakt Singh. |
