New Delhi | Apr 15
Pakistan has finally yielded and granted visa to Sarabjit’s family for their visit to Islamabad. The Pakistan High Commission had on Tuesday forwarded the visa applications of the kin of Sarabjit Singh, who is on death row, to Islamabad for clearance.
Singh's wife Sukhbir Kaur, their two daughters Swapandeep and Poonam and Dalbir Kaur and her husband Baldev Singh had applied to the Pakistan High Commission for visa on April 10, hoping to go across the border and meet him.
Singh, who is lodged in a Lahore jail, was sentenced to death for his alleged involvement in 1990 serial blasts in Lahore and Multan.
His hanging was, however, stayed till April 30 after the Indian Government took up his case with the Pakistan authorities.
