| Musical concerts ideal platforms for the artists: Jugal | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 16 As part of Jammu Festival-2008, Rock Jammu Rock musical evening organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today at the premises of Kala Kendra enthralled the packed open lawn of the Kala Kendra. Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma Minister for R&B, J&K state was the chief guest, while Mr. T. R. Sharma, Special Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Academy was also present on the occasion with other dignitaries. While speaking on the occasion Mr. Yugal Kishore Sharma Minister for R&B appreciated the programme and said that besides providing platform to the folk artists of the region, it was also felt that majority of this modern society should also be invited to actively participate and celebrate the Jammu festival in their own style and passion. He said that organizing Rock Jammu fulfils the gap and this will also helps a lot to bridge the gap between the modern youth and the traditional value of their culture. He said that Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has taken personal interest in expanding the Jammu Festival to other districts of Jammu region and its peripheries. He said that during the Jammu Festival more than 300 different events were organized at Jammu and other districts in which lakhs of people participated and enjoyed the colourful programmes. The main attraction of today’s programme was the fast numbers, a mixture of Indo-Western music, which attracted the young generation in particular. In this mega event the other groups presented their dance items include Ms. Rita Khadyal, Youngster Dancing Institute, Gurukul Dancing Institute, Uniques Dancing Institute, Chanchal Sharma, Shipla Padha from Kathua, Paradise Rocker, Lokesh Chander, Rang Bhoomi Club Kathua, Friends Dancing Institute, Basu Dance from Kathua, Bishan Dass, Paradise Dancing Institute, Happy New Year by academy. The singers who participated include Sanjeev Gupta and Anil Tickoo. The Musicians were Arvind, Shamsher, Rakesh Khanna, Joginder, Satish and Pawan. The proceedings were conducted by Sapna Soni and Tahima and the whole programme was choreographed by Mr. Randhir Kumar over all incharge of the programme.
